Properties control the features of each topic like the title, context string, entry macros, keywords and whether it's going to be included in the browse sequence and contents tree.

It's easy to change the properties in any set of topics because the properties box can remain open over the editor window — this means you can change items in a topic and move to the next without reopening the properties.

Keywords can be inserted for a whole project — click the Keywords tab — enter phrases for the topic visible in the editor — go to the next topic and continue. The Properties Box can stay open throughout and additions to all topics are saved with the project files.

Entry macros may be needed for all main topics — e.g. to make sure that a particular secondary window is open at the same time. Use the Entry Macros tab — move through all the main topics — paste in the macro for each one.

Default Settings are reflected in the properties of each topic by the check boxes. To remove the duplicated title in the non-scrolling region or to stop topics appearing in a sequence or the contents tree, it's just a matter of unchecking these at any stage of the project development.

F1 Context Sensitive Help can be incorporated for application developers to link online documentation — enable the header file in the Map section of the Project Settings and then use the Context Numbers that appear in the General Properties.

Comments can be added for each topic — they don't appear anywhere in the final project but they can be used as notes to yourself for when you need to revise the Help system.
